Honest Taskers, Edge, and SupportDDS lead this year's shortlist of virtual dental office manager companies, seven healthcare-focused staffing firms ranked on how they hold a practice's front-office numbers, from daily and month-end reporting to insurance aging oversight, and collections against production goal, all in your time zone and under a signed BAA. The companies here staff the seat with a real remote person, and none of them replace whoever's physically in the building. Below we set out which half of the job needs someone in the building, who carries a remote manager's decisions to the floor, which companies publish a rate, whether the office manager company will put a Business Associate Agreement in writing, and whether a remote manager can pull your aging report in your own software.
Disclosure: Honest Taskers publishes this list and appears at position 1. We're judged on the same five published criteria as every other company here.

How we chose the best virtual dental office manager companies
We ranked these companies on five facts, each checked at the provider's own website on August 12, 2026. Those facts are dental specialization, talent location, published pricing, the office-manager-level work they say they cover, and HIPAA posture. Manager-level work means the reporting and follow-through a practice administrator owns, so we weighted firms that name insurance aging and accounts receivable, collections, schedule and block management, verification and recall workflows, chart auditing, credentialing and month-end numbers rather than "front desk help" in general. Blank facts read "not publicly listed" instead of a guess, and self-stated claims are labeled company-reported. This pool is genuinely thin at manager level, which is why the list stops at seven instead of padding to ten with firms that only staff a phone seat.
Best virtual dental office manager companies compared
The table ranks all 7 on the same columns, Honest Taskers first because we publish the list. Rates were checked August 12, 2026 and change often, so treat them as a starting point, not a quote.
| Company | Dental focus | Talent location | Published pricing | Office-manager-level support (as stated) | HIPAA posture (as stated) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honest Taskers | Yes, with a dental role line | US clients; recruiting in the Philippines, Latin America, India and Pakistan | $10.00–$12.65/hr | Verification, billing and coding, treatment coordination, recall, reporting support | HIPAA-trained; compliance verified by Accountable; BAA when PHI; SOC 2 audit-ready |
| Edge | Yes, a dedicated dental line | Not publicly listed | Flat monthly fee, figure not published | Dental scheduling, insurance and billing coordinator seats | HIPAA program and SOC 2 (company-reported); BAA signed before day one |
| SupportDDS | Yes, dental only | Zimbabwe, Zambia and Costa Rica; Texas headquarters | $13/hr; RCM Core $2,680/mo, RCM Advantage $2,980/mo | Full-time dedicated support plus revenue cycle packages | HIPAA compliance (company-reported); no BAA described publicly |
| Swiss Monkey | Yes, dental front office | US-based professionals, with access to global talent | Hourly not published, plus a 13.5%–17.5% platform fee | Fractional dental front-office coverage, 5 to 20-plus hours a week | HIPAA-aligned framework with BAAs and NDAs (company-reported) |
| Dental Support Specialties | Yes, dental only | United States, Canton, Ohio | Not publicly listed; month to month | Receptionist, insurance, hygiene and treatment coordinator work, AR recovery, chart auditing | HIPAA-compliant secure web portal (company-reported); no BAA described publicly |
| Reach | Yes, dental only | Latin America | $11/hr, from a $1,995/mo fee at 174 hours | Inbound and outbound calls, revenue cycle management, insurance verification, admin support | States a virtual assistant isn't HIPAA compliant by default; no BAA described publicly |
| DentVia | Yes, dental only | Not publicly listed | $11.00/hr English, $14.00/hr bilingual | Scheduling, calls, verification, billing and claims, RCM, hygiene reminders | HIPAA compliance (company-reported); no BAA described publicly |
Two patterns show up fast. Published rates for a dental seat cluster between $11 and $14 an hour, and almost nobody in dental puts a signed Business Associate Agreement on the record, which is the single biggest gap to close before you hand over practice management access.
1. Honest Taskers
Best for: practices that want one dedicated, healthcare-trained person holding reporting, aging and recall oversight, with a BAA on the record.
Pricing: $10.00–$12.65/hrLocation: US clients; PH, LatAm, India and Pakistan recruitingModel: Managed staffingFirst hire: Two-week working trial
Honest Taskers is a healthcare-focused virtual staffing company with a dental role line, built around a dedicated hire, not a shared ticket queue. Its dental professionals cover insurance verification and benefit breakdowns, claim submission and follow-up, CDT coding, payment posting, accounts receivable and aging buckets, collections calls, recall and reactivation, unscheduled treatment follow-up and treatment coordination. Candidates train quarterly on HIPAA and data privacy under a dedicated compliance officer, work your time zone, and sign a BAA when they'll access PHI, with HIPAA compliance verified by Accountable. Clients get a dedicated Customer Success Advocate, and new clients may receive a two-week working trial with their first selected professional, plus unlimited replacement support. Its virtual dental receptionist service lists the front-office roles it staffs.
Limitation: not the lowest hourly rate on this list.
2. Edge
Best for: practices that want the manager seat filled by someone already trained in Dentrix, Eaglesoft or Open Dental.
Pricing: Flat monthly fee, figure not publishedLocation: Not publicly listedModel: Dedicated dental hireTrial: None published; replacement at no cost
Edge markets its dental line as Edge for Dental, and the three seats it names sit closest to manager work, a dental scheduling coordinator, a dental insurance coordinator and a dental billing coordinator. It's the only company here that publishes a software training list, naming Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Curve Dental, Weave, RevenueWell, DentalXChange and Dental Intelligence, and it says talent is trained on the main three before starting, which matters if you expect aging reports pulled in week one.
Limitation: neither the talent location nor the monthly fee is published.
3. SupportDDS
Best for: dental groups that want a full-time dedicated hire, or the revenue cycle handled as a fixed monthly package.
Pricing: $13/hr; RCM from $2,680/moLocation: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Costa Rica; Texas HQModel: Dedicated full-timeTrial: Not publicly listed
SupportDDS works dental only, serving private practices and DSOs, and staffs from Harare and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Lusaka in Zambia and Liberia Guanacaste in Costa Rica out of a Texas headquarters. If you'd rather buy the revenue cycle as a package than a seat, RCM Core and RCM Advantage are fixed monthly options with no long-term contract and cancel-anytime terms, which fits when what you need managed is collections and aging rather than the whole desk.
Limitation: no BAA is described publicly, so get one in writing before any patient data moves.
4. Swiss Monkey
Best for: practices that need manager-level oversight a few days a week instead of a full-time seat.
Pricing: Hourly not published, plus 13.5%–17.5% feeLocation: US-based professionalsModel: Marketplace, fractional hoursTrial: Not publicly listed
Swiss Monkey runs a marketplace of pre-vetted dental front-office professionals, US-based with access to global talent, and it's the one here built for fractional coverage, from 5 to 20-plus hours a week with no long-term contract. That shape suits a practice that wants somebody auditing the schedule, working the aging report and pulling month-end numbers two or three days a week, without funding a full-time administrator.
Limitation: the hourly rate isn't published, and a 13.5% to 17.5% platform fee sits on top of it.
5. Dental Support Specialties
Best for: practices that would rather buy the front-office function from a US team than manage a single remote hire.
Pricing: Not publicly listedLocation: Canton, Ohio, United StatesModel: Shared support centerTrial: Not publicly listed
Dental Support Specialties is a US support center in Canton, Ohio, serving practices across the US and Canada, and it's the closest thing here to buying the function instead of the person. It covers work usually held by the receptionist, insurance coordinator, hygiene coordinator or the scheduling and treatment coordinator, including phone answering, scheduling, dental insurance verification, accounts receivable recovery and chart auditing, which is most of what a manager delegates and then checks.
Limitation: it's a shared support center rather than a dedicated hire, and no rate is published.
6. Reach
Best for: practices that want daytime US overlap and Spanish-language coverage at a rate they can plan against.
Pricing: $11/hr, from $1,995/moLocation: Latin AmericaModel: Dedicated staffingTrial: Not publicly listed
Reach staffs dental support from Latin America, which it ties to US time-zone overlap and Spanish-language need, and it publishes a rate you can budget against. The work it names is inbound and outbound calls, revenue cycle management, insurance verification and administrative support, and it describes its people as real staff supported by AI tools for eligibility checks, recall messages and documentation.
Limitation: it says itself that a virtual assistant isn't HIPAA compliant on its own, and no BAA is described publicly.
7. DentVia
Best for: practices delegating one slice of the manager role first, in particular bilingual patient follow-up.
Pricing: $11.00/hr; $14.00/hr bilingualLocation: Not publicly listedModel: Dedicated, month to monthTrial: Not publicly listed
DentVia is dental only and publishes two clear rates, one for an English-speaking assistant and a higher one for bilingual English and Spanish, month to month with no long-term commitment. The tasks it names run across appointment scheduling, call handling, insurance verification, billing and claims, lead follow-up, revenue cycle management and hygiene reminders, so a strong candidate could hold a good share of a manager's checklist.
Limitation: the talent location isn't published and no BAA is described, so both need confirming.
Which half of the office manager's job needs someone in the building?
The floor half, because in-person supervision, the morning huddle, sterilization and OSHA walkthroughs, and chairside shadowing cannot be run from another time zone, while the numbers half can. A remote manager can own daily and month-end reporting, insurance aging by bucket, collections percentage against production goal, schedule template and block audits, verification and recall workflow oversight, credentialing renewals, vendor and lab invoice reconciliation, and the front-office checklist itself. What it can't do is be in the building. In-person team supervision, the morning huddle run from the operatory hallway, sterilization and OSHA walkthroughs, and hands-on shadowing for a new chairside hire stay with someone on site, so the honest arrangement is a remote manager for the systems paired with a lead assistant or the dentist for the floor. A dental consultant is a different purchase again, a few days of diagnosis and training rather than a person working your aging report every Monday. The pressure behind all of this is real, and the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute reporting on the dental hygienist shortage says that 91% of dentists who were recruiting dental hygienists called it "very or extremely challenging", that only 60% of dentists have an adequate number of dental hygienists on staff, and that staffing tied with dental insurance issues as dentists' top concern looking ahead to 2026. Remote admin help doesn't fill a hygienist's chair, since that work is clinical, but it does stop the front office from absorbing the shortfall, and our breakdown of the dental staffing shortage covers where the gaps land hardest.
Who carries a remote manager's decisions to the floor?
Somebody on site has to, and naming that person is one of five things to settle before you sign, alongside PHI exposure, thin software depth, turnover, and a scope that quietly drifts toward clinical decisions.
- PHI and system access. Ask for the signed Business Associate Agreement plus the device and network controls, because a manager-level seat touches ledgers, claims and charts all day rather than a single screen.
- Authority without presence. Ask how decisions get made when the manager and the team sit in different buildings, and name who on site carries the manager's calls to the floor.
- Practice management depth. Ask which candidates have worked in your system, such as Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Curve Dental or CareStack, and have them walk you through pulling an aging report in it.
- Turnover and continuity. Ask about retention and replacement terms, since a new manager every few months resets your reporting rhythm and every workflow they'd documented.
- Scope drift. Ask how clinical questions get routed, because a remote administrator handles insurance, money and scheduling, and treatment decisions stay with your licensed team.
Which virtual dental office manager companies publish a rate?
Four of the seven do. DentVia and Reach sit at $11, SupportDDS at $13, and DentVia's bilingual seat at $14, with Reach's figure worked out from a $1,995 monthly fee at 174 hours (rates checked August 2026). Package pricing shows up at SupportDDS, where RCM Core is $2,680 a month and RCM Advantage is $2,980, while Edge, Swiss Monkey and Dental Support Specialties all keep their numbers behind a call, and Swiss Monkey adds a 13.5% to 17.5% platform fee on top of the hourly rate it doesn't publish. Honest Taskers sits mid-range, beginning around $10 an hour and reaching about $12.65 depending on the role, candidate background, schedule and location. Price tracks talent location, weekly hours and how much oversight the vendor carries, and for the money side of the seat specifically, see how virtual assistants help with dental billing.
Will the office manager company put a Business Associate Agreement in writing?
Only Edge and Swiss Monkey describe one publicly in this pool of seven, which makes it the first thing to establish, alongside proven dental depth, real reporting ability, and pricing you can budget against.
- Reporting the candidate can produce. Ask for a sample day-end and month-end report, and for how they'd track collections percentage, production against goal and aging by bucket.
- A BAA in writing. Only Edge and Swiss Monkey describe BAAs publicly in this pool, so make the signed agreement a condition of access rather than a follow-up email.
- Your software, hands on. Confirm experience in your practice management system and patient communication tools, from Dentrix and Open Dental to Weave and RevenueWell.
- A named person or a named process. A dedicated hire gives you accountability, and a shared center like Dental Support Specialties gives you coverage, so pick for the gap you have.
- Group and multi-location fit. If you run more than one site, check reporting across locations first, and our list of staffing companies for multi-location dental groups narrows that down.
Can a remote manager pull your aging report in your own software?
Ask them to do it live, in Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Curve Dental or CareStack, once you have split the role between remote and on-site and shortlisted two or three dental-focused firms.
- Split the role in two, listing the remote half such as reporting, aging, verification and recall oversight, and the on-site half such as huddles, sterilization checks and chairside training.
- Shortlist firms whose dental depth, talent location and HIPAA posture fit, and rule out anyone who won't put a Business Associate Agreement in writing.
- Interview one or two candidates and have them talk through your aging report, your schedule template and one insurance breakdown.
- Sign the Business Associate Agreement and set system permissions yourself before anyone logs in.
- Run a trial period, then hand over the front-office checklist, the reporting calendar and clear escalation rules to your on-site lead.

Methodology and sources
We verified each company at its own website on August 12, 2026, recording dental focus, talent location, published pricing, stated office-manager-level support and HIPAA posture. Dental staffing context is from the American Dental Association's Health Policy Institute. Published rates are volatile and were captured as dated points, not permanent quotes, so re-check before you buy. Where a company didn't publish a fact, we marked it "not publicly listed", self-stated claims are labeled company-reported, and we left out every savings claim a vendor advertises because none of them are independently verifiable.
